    Q. How much notice is required in Connecticut to end a tenancy?

    A.  Tenants must give as much notice as possible when breaking the lease. Terminating a lease early usually entails an early termination penalty. Often the landlord will keep the security deposit.

The only way the landlord can terminate the lease is by serving an eviction order on the tenant. A landlord does not have to give a specific reason for the eviction.

    Q. When is the landlord allowed to increase the rent?

    A.  Under Connecticut law the landlord cannot raise the rent during the rental term, unless the parties agreed in writing to allow an increase during the term.
