Virginia property owners, if you are having construction or renovations done on your property, you should serve a Notice of Commencement on all parties with an interest in the property and the constructino project.

This Notice of Commencement gives each of these parties notice of the first day that construction, improvements or renovations on the property are to begin, and discloses information about the contractor, the surety, the guarantor and the work to be performed. The form includes an acknowledgement by a Notary Public. NOTE: this form is not required by state law.
