Sweet & Sour Sauce
SWEET AND SOUR SAUCE
Ingredients:
1/2 green pepper, coarsely chopped
2 Tbsp. cooking oil
1/2 c. vinegar
6 Tbsp. brown sugar
1 Tbsp. soy sauce
3/4 c. ketchup
1 19 oz. can cubed pineapple
1 Tbsp. cornstarch
1 Tbsp. chopped preserved ginger
Saute green pepper in oil over medium heat until almost tender. Add vinegar, sugar, soy sauce, ketchup and 1 c. juice from pineapple, bring to boil. Combine cornstarch with 2 Tbsp. cold water and stir into hot mixture. Cook and stir until thick and transparent. Add pineapple cubes.
Yield: 2 cups.
