Prepare notices to serve on your tenant or your landlord with these downloadable template Landlord and Tenant Notice Forms for South Carolina.

    Q. How long can my landlord keep my security deposit?

    A. South Carolina law does not limit the amount that a landlord can charge for a security deposit, however, the landlord must return the tenant's security deposit (or the balance after any allowable deductions) within 30 days of the date on which the property is vacated.

    Q. How often can a landlord increase the rent?

    A. If there is no fixed term lease agreement, landlords in South Carolina can legally raise the rent as much as they want, with no advance notice. If there is a lease agreement in place, they cannot raise the rent until the end of the lease term.
