Alberta Vehicle Storage Agreement
Overview
This Vehicle Storage Agreement is designed for use within the Province of Alberta. It establishes the terms and conditions under which a customer may lease vehicle storage space from a facility. The agreement outlines the responsibilities and rights of both the vehicle owner (renter) and the storage facility.
Default and Lien Rights
If the vehicle owner fails to pay storage fees or any other amounts owed under this agreement, the storage facility is entitled to exercise its lien rights as provided by the Garage Keeper's Lien Act of Alberta.
Limitation of Liability
The storage facility’s liability for any loss or damage to the stored vehicle is strictly limited. The maximum liability is the lesser of the following two amounts: the fair retail used vehicle value as of the date of the agreement, or the value declared by the vehicle owner.
Insurance and Security
The vehicle owner is responsible for maintaining appropriate insurance coverage for the stored vehicle. The storage facility, in turn, is responsible for ensuring adequate security measures are in place. Such security may include video monitoring, guard dogs, motion sensors, and alarm systems.
Use of Facility
This agreement strictly covers the storage of vehicles. The renter is not permitted to carry out any repairs, servicing, or maintenance on the vehicle while it is on the facility’s premises.
Jurisdiction
This Vehicle Storage Agreement is intended exclusively for use in the Province of Alberta, Canada.
