Jerry Garcia was an American musician best known as one of the original founders of The Grateful Dead. Though he vehemently disavowed the role, Garcia was viewed by many as the leader or "spokesman" of the group.
Garcia also co-founded the New Riders of the Purple Sage with John Dawson and David Nelson.
He was well known by many for his distinctive guitar playing and was ranked by Rolling Stone at number 13 in their list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.

Elvis dominated the popular music charts for decades, until the coming of the Beatles in the 1960s. His unique blend of blues, country and folk combined with his smooth sexy delivery and pelvic gyrations made him a superstar.
Elvis' first single, 'Heartbreak Hotel' released in 1956, was also his first number 1 hit. He went on to have a string of hits, accompanied by television appearances before swooning audiences of screaming crazed female fans.
Elvis made his film debut in 1956's Love Me Tender.
After his army stint, he returned to recording and making movies. In 1968 he returned to live performance with a highly successful television special, a long-standing Las Vegas stint and numerous tours.
Presley was the first to broadcast a concert globally via satellite, the 'Aloha from Hawaii' special broadcast in 1973.
Elvis' death as a result of prescription drug abuse robbed us of one of the most important cultural icons of the 20th century. He remains the best-selling solo artist in the history of pop music. Today, millions of Elvis fans still mark the anniversary of his death with candlelight vigils at his mansion at Graceland.

John Lennon was an English rock musician, singer-songwriter, author, and peace activist who gained worldwide fame as one of the founding members of The Beatles. With Paul McCartney, Lennon formed one of the most influential and successful songwriting partnerships of the 20th century and wrote some of the most popular music in rock and roll history. He is ranked the second most successful songwriter in UK singles chart history, after McCartney.
After The Beatles split, Lennon enjoyed a successful solo career, and was often in the media spotlight for his activities as a peace activist. Following a self-imposed retirement to raise his son Sean, Lennon reemerged with a comeback album, Double Fantasy, but was murdered less than one month after its release. The album would go on to win the 1981 Grammy Award for Album of the Year.
In 2002, respondents to a BBC poll on the 100 Greatest Britons voted Lennon Number 8. In 2004, Rolling Stone magazine ranked Lennon number 38 on its list of the 50 greatest artists of all time (but he actually took two spots, because the Beatles were number one).
John Lennon was posthumously inducted into both the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1987 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994.
