Quebec Notice of Rent Increase

Important Information for Quebec Landlords

If you are a landlord in Quebec and intend to raise the rent or alter any conditions of your tenant's lease, you are required to serve the tenant with a Notice of Rent Increase and Modification of Another Condition of the Lease. This process is mandated by articles 1942 and 1943 of the Civil Code of Quebec.

Lease Renewal and Modification

When a lease is renewed, landlords must inform tenants if there will be any changes to the lease conditions. This includes notifying the tenant of an increase in rent or any other modifications that will take effect upon renewal.
