How the General Release Works
One party to a transaction (the releasor) releases another party (the releasee) from all claims that may arise as a result of the transaction between the parties. The release would be given in exchange for payment of a settlement amount from the releasee to the releasor.
Applicable Law
The releasor waives its rights under California Civil Code Sect. 1542 with respect to any claims that may arise which it has no knowledge of at the present time.
