Manitoba Standard Residential Tenancy Agreement

Overview

This document is the statutory Form 1, Standard Residential Tenancy Agreement, for landlords in Manitoba who intend to rent out a house or apartment to a tenant. It is the form that is mandated by The Residential Tenancies Act and ensures that both parties are protected under provincial law.

Applicability

The Standard Residential Tenancy Agreement is required for all residential rental arrangements in Manitoba, except for cases involving mobile homes or mobile home sites. These exceptions are regulated differently, and separate forms must be used in those situations.

Signing Requirements

Both the landlord and the tenant must each sign two copies of the agreement. After the agreement has been signed by both parties, the landlord is responsible for providing the tenant with a fully signed copy within 21 days. This ensures that both the landlord and tenant retain a complete and legally recognized record of the tenancy terms.

Jurisdiction

This agreement is intended for use exclusively within the Province of Manitoba, Canada. It may not be suitable for use in other jurisdictions due to differing legal requirements.
