Why should you make a power of attorney?

When does the document come into effect?

You can choose if the power of attorney will come into effect only if and when you become mentally incapable or if you wish to have it become effective immediately.

If you wish to revoke your Power of Attorney in Oregon, you can use this Revocation of Power of Attorney form to put it in writing.

Your Rights to Revoke

As long as you remain mentally capable, you have the legal right to cancel your Power of Attorney at any time. By completing and signing the revocation form, you withdraw all powers previously granted to your attorney-in-fact.

Notification Steps

After signing the revocation form, it is important to inform all relevant parties. Begin by giving a copy of the signed document to your attorney-in-fact.

Provide a copy to any banks, trust companies, or other businesses and individuals who have interacted with your attorney-in-fact on your behalf, so that they are aware that this person is no longer acting as your attorney-in-fact.
